Helmets
|
|
Motorcycle helmets clearly work to reduce injuries and
fatalities among motorcyclists.
Gulf Coast Motorcycle Training,
Inc.©
strongly recommends
the use of a D.O.T. approved helmet while riding a
motorcycle.

Experienced
Rider Course (ERC)
Even if you've been riding for a long time, there is
always something new to learn. This one day course,
typically held on Saturdays or Sundays, is for riders
who already own and ride a motorcycle and are interested
in state-of-the-art motorcycle handling techniques or
just brushing up on their safe street riding skills.
Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to
the Experienced Rider Course to fine-tune their riding
and mental skills needed for survival in traffic.
In the classroom, you'll discuss with your peers how to
balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding,
managing risk, increasing visibility and optimizing lane
position. The course also covers protective gear, rider
responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, and the
effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding.
On the range, you will put
into practice intense riding activities, including the
techniques of managing traction, controlling rear-wheel
skids, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving.
You may
use your own motorcycle or one of ours.
To qualify for participation in the ERC, you must have
at least 3 months riding experience and have
a motorcycle license or endorsement on your
driver's license. Riders must provide a
street-legal bike that passes a safety
inspection (T-clock) and provide proof of
insurance and ownership. If the motorcycle
is not owned by the rider, notarized,
written approval from the owner to use the
motorcycle in the course must be provided.
Additionally, handlebars or grips should not
be higher than the top of the operator's
shoulder when properly seated on the
motorcycle.
Upon completion of the Experienced Rider Course, a
graduate can receive an insurance discount from
participating companies.
Students must provide and wear the following protective
gear during the riding session:
|
 |
DOT
approved helmets

 |
Long, preferably denim, pants |
 |
Shoes or boots that cover the ankles |

|
The classes are typically held on Saturday or Sunday
from 7:00 AM until approximately 1:00 PM rain or shine.
The fee for the ERC class is $100. Once your
application, waiver and fee is received, you will be
notified of the upcoming class dates. After you select
and confirm the date of the class that best fits your
schedule, fees are non-refundable. If you arrive late,
you will forfeit your fee. You can be rescheduled for another class
at no charge if you give us more than 5 days
notice. If you give us 5 days notice or
less, you be charged a $50 rescheduling fee.
